In 1905, UA Glee Club director, J.P. Ludebehl, collaborated
with lyricist V.H. Bell to write, “The Crimson and the White” for
the newly formed Glee Club. It was first sung in 1906 and served as the
opening or closing number of the Glee Club over the next several decades.
Though extremely popular, it never caught on as a fight song.
